I'm No Princess!

But I pretended to be one on New Year's Eve.

I made this little chinese crystal and freshwater pearl tiara to wear to dinner with friends. I think it would be fun to make these for brides this year.

The lady in the powder room is wearing it now. She reminds me to try to be more like a lady/princess in the new year.

We had a couple friends over on January 1 for dinner.
It was a last minute thing so I had to throw together the
table and the menu with what we had in the house.

I went with a simple black and white table setting.

Ikea table runners and some toile chargers I've had for years.

Menu:
pear blue cheese and walnut salad
grilled asparagus
roasted rosemary baby red potatoes
marinaded pork loin
sorbet with fresh berries

Dinner with friends was the perfect way to start off the year!

On a completely different note
I've been pretty sick for the past few days and I've spent a lot of time thinking about my blog--whether to keep doing it or call it quits. I've decided I'm going to try to ramp it up with more frequent posts. If that doesn't work I'll throw in the towel.

So, if you're out there reading this, consider becoming a follower by clicking on the "follow" button. I just recently put it back up. It would make me feel so much better to know that I've got more than just three regular readers :)

I'd love to hear what kind of posts you would like to see more of.

Also, don't be afraid to leave a comment, it really makes my day when I get them!

Happy New Year!

Well, lots to comment on here. First of all, the tiara is great and could really elevate your mood while doing housework. Then, I love your classic black & white tablescape, especially for New Years. Sorry I missed the meal, looks yummy! As for whether or not to continue blogging, I say yes! I know sometimes it's tough to come up with so many original posts, but I love the little snippets into your home and jewelry projects. Hope this helps! Happy New Year Julie!!

That's right you are no princess, you are the Queen of the Castle. Keep blogging if you enjoy it. I enjoy reading it.

Julie - I LOVE your blog! I read it fairly regularly and I thoroughly enjoy it. I love your style (let's see - I own a minimum of 16 Julie LoRusso Jewelry original creations, some dating back from the early 2000s).
I wanted to share with you 2 pics of one of my favorite handbags, hopefully in some small way as an inspiration for you to continue to blog because it reminds me of you. It's made of vintage material, has silk houndstooth lining, a black patent leather handle, and a brooch for embellishment! I don't know how to attach the pictures (I am not ashamed to admit, I am no true blogger), but I will email them to you right away.
Sorry to hear you have been under the weather. Feel better soon and HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Sounds like you need some oxygen...Princess! I hear ypu on calling it quits, but I think I might have some fans knocking on my door! It is like breast-feeding for me.....the Doctor told me to keep feeding....infection and all....so I did and I think it is wise to just keep feeding the blog....otherwise, I would never have the chance to meet a real Princess!
May I request a tiara for my diva days....
It is a snow day today, and it would come in handy for serving soup and hot coco between the floggings....ha ha ha.
