Bold and Fun Or Classic?

What to do, what to do?!
A couple months ago my sister gave me this beautiful needlepoint rug.
It's got all the right colors and I think it works beautifully in my evolving living room.
I wasn't sure about it at first, because I thought it might be a little old fashioned and I had been thinking that I wanted to go a little more modern/fun with the Ikea Stockholm Rand.
IKEA STOCKHOLM RAND Rug, flatwoven, black, off-white Length: 11 ' 6 " Width: 8 ' 2 " Length: 350 cm Width: 250 cm
When I put the needlepoint rug down I loved how it cozied up the room.

And you can't really go wrong with the price of $0!

Yesterday I was in Crate and Barrel and noticed they have a black and white stripe rug that is actually $50 less than the Ikea one - how did I miss this for so many months?....
When the sales person told me it would have to be ordered, I decided to walk away
because I didn't want to commit to it.
But, then she found me and said, that one in the size I  needed had been returned and was in the store. She was smart to also mention I could return it if I didn't like it.
What do you think?

Bold and Fun

Or Classic?

Oh, I think I like the bold and fun, it picks up on the pillows in the back too. Could the needlepoint go in a bedroom and then you can switch them out when you want? Bold and fun in the summer and needlepoint in the winter?

Bold and fun! But keep the needlepoint one when you need a change from time to time!
Happy New Year Julie!

I vote "bold and Fun" and perhaps minus one pillow on the loveseat.
Happy New Year to you and your family!

Wow you have a great eye. Both work and are so different. As one is free (and it looks very expensive too!) you should buy the black and white one for sure as a change out.

Aubusson (needlepoint) rugs are so chic! I guess I am the only one who likes that better?

OK, very tough to choose! I saw the initial images and thought, "definitely the free one" but then saw the other and changed my mind. I think the free one gives is a more cottage cozy vibe while the stripe is a more modern chic feel. If it were me, I'd keep both and switch them out for the seasons or moods! M.

Just zapping back - a quick thank you for the great advice on writing outside the blog. Yesterday I got off my bum and wrote up loads of story ideas and sent them off. Thanks for getting me started!

*** That NEEDLEPOINT RUG is TOOO FAB, and YOU are one... lucky... sister...!!! (The only thing MY SISTER has ever given ME is a HEADACHE!!!)...

Seriously tho, they're both totally opposite, and since your sweet Sis just GAVE that yummy rug to you "for free", I suggest first that you DO SOMETHING VERY NICE FOR HER!!!...

...THENNNN, you may consider buying the black & white one also, and changing the rugs out at different times of the year or heck, just depending on your MOOD that week!!!

You have a wonderfully generous sister and a "LUCKY PROBLEM"!!!!!

Best,

I have to say generally I would go for the B&W stripes because I'm a big fan but in this case the one your sister gave you works wonderfully taking into consideration the shapes of your furniture. What I would suggest is to get more of the Hollywood regency gold going...like in the wheat shafts side table, put something utterly dramatic in the middle for the coffee table, and maybe even a small zebra skin over the main carpet under the new table might be nice...:)

Love your blog!
