Departure Dinner

Our neighbors/friends just accepted a job cross country in California and will be leaving in just a couple weeks. I wanted to do a black and white table, but since I had already done that scheme with them I had to come up with something different.

I pulled out this purple fabric remnant.
Then I remembered the purple napkins I got on clearance a couple years ago (I think they were $1).

Brought in a little whimsy with my monkey napkin rings.

Added some height with some super tall purple taper candles.

used the charcoal stemware I found at an estate sale last spring.

and made a simple white flower centerpiece.

I felt like it was moody without being drab.

Setting this table I realized how much purple I have in my house - I never realized that I had so much, or that I even like if for that matter.
Looks like I like it!
I wanted to make a pretty table so our guests would feel special.
But I didn't want it to feel formal or fussy. Monkeys never feel fussy :)

For the first time ever, we started our dinner party with drinks in the living room, which was very cozy.

So, the house across the street will be up for sale very soon.
Anyone looking to move into a really great neighborhood?....
New neighbors will be welcomed with a dinner at Monkey Grass Hill :)

Oh how delightful to have such a lovely dinner. I think the monkey really does fit monkey grass hill and who knew that you had so much purple? I love how easy you make things look.
I wonder of your new neighbors will know how lucky to be your neighbor? They will be so lucky to monkey around with you.

Your table looks very elegant, but not fussy! Last year I wrote about finding a lot purple in my wardrobe once someone mentioned it. I once read every well dressed home should have a monkey somewhere. Love the monkey napkin rings. Hugs!

I'd love to have you as my neighbor - but would we get in trouble all the time? Love the table setting and your living room looks so cozy!

Yes I agree, what lucky guests to be treated so beautifully. My guests last night ate salads from plastic containers, I didn't even put things in a bowl....That purply brown is wonderful and so elegant with white. And as you say that cheeky monkey always keeps things very fun.
