The Day After

The day after Frankenstorm we were without power.
We are surround by big trees, so power loss was expected.
Major damage was also expected and we're so thankful nothing more happened to us.
We're lucky, we were only inconvenienced for a day.

These pictures were taken in the dark with my phone.
Drew had breakfast by the fire and read catalogs with a headlight.
These are good times people.

I had to pull the pumpkins in so they wouldn't become missiles in the wind.
I didn't realize how many we had.

It turns out that a day off from school is the perfect time to create your costume.
We found the mask and I just made the black drape out of fabric I had on hand. The sickle is made out of a broom handle, cereal box and tin foil. He loves it. (I like it because I don't think he can injure himself or anyone else with it.)
-He's the grim reaper in case you're wondering-

Everything is back to normal at Monkey Grass Hill and we're ready for a big night of Halloween fun.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to all those who won't be celebrating tonight. The damages and loss so many have suffered is truly heartbreaking.

Yikes! Getting Grief

This weekend one of my followers bumped into me at a fall festival. He gave me a lot of grief about my lack of posts. I told him that I hadn't been working on projects lately. I've shifted my focus and all I really have to talk about is mommy stuff and jewelry.  He said that's good stuff :) He said stories about shopping the barns is entertaining. So Bob, (and anyone else who cares what I've been up to) here you go...

The girls in the hood went to the barn sales together last month. We had a great time.
I bought a runner that didn't work out in my hallway. Now I need to figure out what to do with it.

I chaperoned a class field trip to Arlington National Cemetery.
It's really an amazing place. I haven't been there since I was a kid. I'd like to go again and spend a little more time there. I kept getting distracted by little people complaining that they were hungry.

We've been doing the fall festival circuit.

At the ripe old age of 44, Matt carved his first pumpkin
He was very proud. And took Drew's suggestion to make it look like it was throwing up.
It's all about the details people.

I've been really into making necklaces with tassels.

I've also been spending A LOT of time working on my website.
I've messed it up so badly that I don't have a working site at the moment.
I need to call technical support.

Drew is really into Monopoly. This is a photo taken by him.
He's really good and usually wins.

Both Matt and Drew are really into baseball.
They went to the Nationals play offs and had a great time.

This year I went with purple mums by the front door.
These huge plants were only $4 at Home Depot.
I'll put them in the ground when they start to fade.

So, that should bring you pretty much up to date. I hope you'll come back again real soon. I hope that when you do come back, I'll have some new content for you (Bob).
