Looking For A Time-Sucker?....

Then get one of these - A koi pond and fountain

Being a lady of leisure, I've got 3 myself.

#1 came with the house

#2 I had put in (thinking I would get rid of the first one)

#3 my neighbor volunteered me to manage.

The elementary school courtyard and pond (needs a LOT of work)

Yes, they are pretty and  it's fun feeding the fish and watching them swim gracefully through the water.

and it's very relaxing listening to the sound of water falling.

BUT, it's not as easy as just building one and plugging in a fountain (as I may have suggested last year here).

It requires constant adjustment, monitoring and filter cleaning. I've spent the last two days working on #1 and #3 and there's more work to do on both.  #2 needs work too!

If YOU value your time, and your back, walk away from the pond pumps now. If you think you want to enjoy the soothing sounds of water flowing I highly recommend just  visiting a friend or public park that has a pond rather than building and maintaining one of your own.  Trust me on this, there's nothing soothing about pond scum.

 Speedy says, "forget about it!"

I think you need your own show. I love all that you do and with such wicked wit. Love your images.
What amazing ponds!

Thanks for the heads up on ponds. I think I'll just stick to a plug-in fountain type thing. Mind you, all your hard work seems to be paying off, your ponds are beautiful.

hi julie,

this blog thing sucks more time than anything i've ever done. at least your ponds are so beautiful and relaxing to look at. are pond companies popular where you live? they are here. maybe you can start a side business b/c i know that's just what you want. i'm dying to hear the stats for the japan donation. you and matt are awesome.

Hilarious post - and I can't believe you have three ponds. I couldn't agree more. The only hassle in our house re-model completed a year and a half ago has been the fountain. I feel as though our builder lives with us changing pumps and whatnot. I'm sure he regrets every agreeing to build it!

BBuuut I love it! It makes me so happy to hear that sound.
