Drew has always loved creative projects. He has always said he wants to be an artist. But I can ALWAYS pick his "works" out of the group because honestly, they are the worst. In the words of his teacher, "scribble scrabble".
I was so happy last week when he brought home something that I could appreciate.
I actually DO love this one. It's the Koi pond at school.
So the next day we ran out to Michael's to buy a frame and matting.
When the framer gave me the price to cut a custom mat I whispered, "this is for a kindergarten painting".
He came up with a fantastic solution.
Just float the picture on the uncut mat.
I love it!
And it now has a place of prominence over the mantel in our kitchen.
As his talent improves I can easily change the art and will always have the right size mat on hand.

Wonderful. Every artist - no matter the age takes great delight when one's art has been framed for all to admire. It truly is the highest form of flattery.

Hi Julie -
What a wonderful idea to float the art on the mat!
Love the koi!!
I love it! And the colors he used are great!!
I think his work is fabulous! One person's scribble scrabble is another's masterpiece, (coming from a pre-k teacher)
i love it julie. i think it's heirloom art.

I have framed pieces from my sons all over the place here! Makes me smile everytime I look at them.

It looks great, I am sure he is pleased with the display. I will make sure I comment on it when I see him next.
Thanks for sharing,
Leslie
How fantastic - I love this picture too. The colour and the attitude of the Koi, they look like they're having such fun flapping around. Looks perfect over the mantle too.
