I've Gone Palm Beachy

I had my living room repainted while my contractor was working on the powder room.
I went white. And I've never felt more liberated!

With white walls I'm now more comfortable bringing in color and patterns
I'm mixing my greens and I've added some raspberry floral for a much needed splash. In other words, I've gone pink and green in my living room.

It used to be dark - very beige and brown

(before)

Then I got the craigslist chairs upholstered in a green and white geometric fabric.
And started my game of musical furniture

Then I couldn't stop changing things around - I still think I need professional help

I'm working on a cushion for the window seat and making this little space a cozy nook.
These pillows are a little too big, but I was trying to see how a black and white stripe would work.

(Recognize that lamp shade?
The vintage asian man lamp didn't make the cut but the shade did!)

I've been making pillows like a crazy woman
Is it too much?

Found the pair of vintage garden stools at an estate sale this summer.
They were green, so I had to have them.

I'm fickle, so I made the pillows reversible - one side solid raspberry, the other side floral.

Right now I just have this fabric tacked up to see if I can live with it as a curtain before I invest the time into making them. What do you think? Would you put these two different greens so close together?

And most importantly - Drew made this switch cover in the spring and has been asking me WHEN I would hang it up. It kind of works with all the other colors I've got going on, don't you think?

It's still a work in progress, so if you have any thoughts or suggestions feel free to give 'em to me.

I really like it! We went with all white walls in this house (BIG change from my last house) and I love it. It's so hot here in Phoenix I think the while helps me feel cooler.
I've moved my living room around so many times in the last 3 years and I still don't think it's right.
I like the pink/green combo and those chairs came out just perfect!

I think it looks wonderful...great job! I don't have a problem putting different greens together. Just look at nature for inspiration. So many shades, tints and textures blended together.

I adore the switch plate. It looks like a fabulous piece of art.

I love the glass top table. Precious! You really are doing a great job! Bonnie

hi julie,

i have no idea how i missed this post. i LOVE it all! i think both greens go together. and i think somehow it all looks fresh without looking silly. do you know what i mean? you find the best stuff at yardsales. i hate to sew so i feel sorry for you. i bet you are good at it though. i'm not at all. i curse and cry and slam things around.

Julie, this post comes at the perfect time for me. I just painted our family room to be white and I was wondering if I made a mistake! Looking at your space, I'm so happy I did it. I think I just need to get something else in the room. All white is a little daunting. Your room looks beautiful - we have similar tastes. And I think the green curtain swatch works great. So nice to have a blended rather than matched look! And where did you get that sweet sofa?

I love the white walls, it really freshens everything up and makes the raspberry really pop. What a great job you've done, the table and lamps make the room so interesting and add so much depth. The whole room looks comfortable and really love that switch...it's a piece of art!

Whatever you do, the black and white striped pillows must stay right where they are.

I really love it. Contrary to the trends, I love going beachy and bright for the winter - forget all that persimmon, brown, and orange in the stores. You'll feel like you're in a tropical paradise when it's snowing outside!

Oh, Julie, it looks fabulous! I love the white walls and the pink and green looks so fresh. The elephant garden seats are perfect there and those striped pillows add a little Dorothy Draper drama to the space. Great job!
