A Beautiful Morning

We headed over to see the cherry blossoms early on Saturday morning
With the threat of thunderstorms looming all the while

We walked around the tidal basin

I love that Drew still likes to hold hands.

I took pictures with my phone
It's hard to take a bad shot with this many blossoms surrounding you.
Friday was supposed to be the peak, but they were still amazing on Saturday.
(The rain came later in the day, so I'm sure they're gone now.)

DC is absolutely beautiful in the springtime

It's my favorite time of year.

I hope you're surrounded with beauty and enjoying this season too.

How beautiful! Our cherry blossom season was over a few weeks ago. We're on dogwoods now, and they're blooming beautifully this year!

I love all the peeks and peaks that life has in store! My wonderful sitter of 5 years would always tell me that everything has a phase....Your son is just as special as those blossoms. Gorgeous shots!

I imagine seeing them is on many people's bucket list. How lucky you are to be able to just pop over and look at them. I had my first visit to DC last summer but plan on getting there in the spring at some point. Do they smell at all?

Janet - I hope my son will put his arm around me when he's 26. That is so sweet.

Jeanette - It is nice to be able to pop over and see the blooms. I have many years of memories (dates, birthday celebrations, visits from friends) under these trees. They don't have a fragrance. I think if they did it might be overwhelming with the number of them.

My eight year old Cy loves to hold hands too - and I love him for it, it's so endearing! Your family photos are wonderful.

You're right about DC in spring. First the fruit trees, then the azaleas and then the tulips. It's my favorite time to visit. Enjoy!

Every year it surprises me how wonderful those blossoms look in the spring. I'm glad it's always a surprise!

These pictures are beautiful!
My son (17) went through a phase where he wouldn't even take a sip out of a glass that might have touched my lips let alone hold my hand! Now I regularly get hugs and kisses on top of my vertically challenged head.
They will always be Mama's boys...

Hi Julie: I just came over from Bonnie's blog and am so glad today is the day. I have walked that Tidal Basin path many times to view those cherry blossoms. Your photos are lovely. I haven't read far enough to know if you're in that area or just a visitor but I look forward to doing so.

And, in case you are confused, I came from Bonnie's blog and I am a Bonnie.

Best,
Bonnie

The best time to go to DC. I have done it twice, and want to go with my daughter during the spring.

Hey Julie, I was suppose to be in DC last week and my trip was cancelled. It would have been fun to run into you there. It obviously was my loss. Your pictures are absolutely lovely. Hugs! Bonnie
