Just never mind about the weather

One thing I figured out quickly about London is that the people just ignore the weather here. When I say, "weather" I mean rain. People will sit or stand outside drinking their pints even if it's raining. No umbrellas, just acting like they don't even notice it's raining. If there is an outdoor activity there is never a rain date.

We go to the local farmer's market just about every Sunday. Today it was raining pretty hard and Matt said the market was probably closed. I said, "they don't cancel things because of rain here, they just ignore it". It was raining pretty hard around start time and I wondered if people would really set up/attend an outdoor market in the rain.

The answer to that question is Yes, yes they do.

I always head straight to the flower guy

and Drew always buys a croissant from this lady
I watched this shopper walk around the market oblivious that her umbrella was inverted (I thought it was funny because it wasn't even windy)

I think it's a great way to live. Just never mind about the weather and get out there!

If things got cancelled because of rain - nothing would happen here!! ;) I do own an umbrella but hardly use it anymore.

You are so right. It will be interesting to see if you keep this attitude when you move back to the States. My guess, you will. The flower guy looks like he has beautiful blooms.

This is great advice. Here in DC it's been raining hard all week w/ at least 3 more days predicted. Your post has reminded me to quit complaining about it and get out there and plant those three evergreens today. Right now they're laying on their sides by the driveway looking pitiful.

Same as in Oregon. My sister lives there and they also ignore it and continue on what they are doing, I love LONDON and hope to visit soon again.

It's nice to hear from you Julie! I am so pleased that you all are enjoying this time across the "pond". The markets are so much fun! - never know what you'll find

I must have some British Blood because it never rain's on my parade! The rain is good for my complexion.

Wish I could adopt that attitude. I hate to get out in the rain.

Cute photo of your guys, just heading back to read again about where you are in the Farmers Market. Do you know I can't remember the rain at all - or even having an umbrella in my 15 years in London - you have totally hit the nail on the head. It rains a lot in NZ too, (which is why its so green) and everyone just says: "Oh lovely for the plants!"
